 What is a box alarm?
Box alarms started back when there were street pull boxes in most cities, usually on street corners, each box with its own distinctive number. When the box was pulled, a card was activated with a pre-determined emergency response.  Though the old box alarms on the street corners have pretty much disappeared, the concept of pre-determined response of emergency services is still needed.  This is even more important on bigger emergencies like multiple alarm fires and natural disasters where mutual aid from other towns is needed.
